Skewer machine for automated skewer production
Threading and forming skewers by hand takes a lot of staff, especially in barbecue season. Our ASM skewer machine forms and threads skewers fully automatically, up to 30 per minute and accurate to the gram. Where needed, we connect the ASM to portioning, metal detection or infeed in your line.

How does a skewer machine work?
A skewer machine like the ASM takes the product from a vacuum filler, forms it into a portion and threads it onto a stick. The ASM does this fully automatically, up to 30 skewers per minute and accurate to the gram. That takes over most of the manual work in your skewer production.
The ASM handles chicken, meat and fish cubes as well as doughs, including vegetarian and cheese mixtures. With the adjustable forming chamber you quickly switch to another shape or size, round or square. Because every portion is accurate to the gram, you lose less raw material.

Can I also make souvlaki, shashlik and kebab automatically?
Yes. With the ASM you make skewers from chicken, meat or fish cubes and from doughs. You set the machine to your product, for example:

Do I need to automate my entire skewer production?
ASM Skewer machine
Metal detection and checkweighers
Infeed and connection to your line
No. You can start with the ASM alone and automate metal detection or infeed later. You choose whether you take the ASM on its own or with one or more machines alongside it. Jansen Techniek supplies them separately and connects them to your existing line where needed.

How many skewers per hour does the ASM make?
Up to 1,800: the ASM skewer machine makes up to 30 skewers per minute of up to 150 grams, with a product diameter of up to 32 mm. It is built for producers who make large numbers of identical skewers every day, from souvlaki to kebab. See the brochure or the explainer video.
Capacity: up to 30 skewers per minute
Weight per skewer: up to 150g, adjustable
Product diameter: max. 32 mm, round or square
Belt height: 880mm
Power supply: 230V + PE + N
Sticks: round or gunshape

How do I check skewers for metal and foreign objects?
With wooden or bamboo sticks, a Fortress metal detector or checkweigher can check the skewer after threading. A metal detector does not find wood splinters. An X-ray system does find glass, stone and bone.

Does automation really pay off?
All projectsFrequently asked questions about automated skewer production
Which machine can make skewers automatically?
For that you use a skewer machine. The ASM skewer machine from Jansen Techniek forms and threads skewers fully automatically, up to 30 per minute. It handles chicken, meat and fish cubes as well as doughs, such as köfte, kebab and vegetarian mixtures. It connects to a vacuum filler and forms every portion accurate to the gram.
Where can I buy an industrial skewer machine in Europe?
Jansen Techniek, a machine builder in Putten, the Netherlands, supplies the ASM skewer machine to meat, fish and poultry processors in the Netherlands and abroad. You can have your own product tested on the machine before you decide.
Can I test a skewer machine if I am not in the Netherlands?
Yes. Send samples of your product to Jansen Techniek and we test them on the ASM skewer machine for you. You then see how the machine handles your product, what capacity you reach and what the skewer looks like. You can also visit our showroom in Putten to see the test yourself.
How can I make skewers faster with fewer staff?
Most of the work is in forming and threading, so that is where a skewer machine pays off most. The ASM skewer machine makes up to 30 skewers per minute, or up to 1,800 per hour, without anyone threading by hand. After that you can also automate inspection or infeed if those steps still take a lot of manual work.
What is the difference between a skewering machine and a forming skewer machine?
A skewering machine threads pre-cut cubes onto a stick. A forming skewer machine makes the portion itself from a mass, such as minced meat or a vegetarian mixture, and then threads it. The ASM skewer machine does both: it handles chicken, meat and fish cubes as well as doughs. With the adjustable forming chamber you choose a round or square shape.
How much does a skewer machine cost?
There is no fixed price. The price of the ASM skewer machine depends on the extra features and options you choose. In your calculation, also look at the number of people per shift, peak demand in barbecue season and raw material lost through uneven portions. You receive a tailored quotation.
How quickly does a skewer machine pay for itself?
That depends on how many skewers you make and how many people are threading by hand now. Work out how many hours of manual work per week the machine takes over at up to 1,800 skewers per hour, and add the raw material you save with portions accurate to the gram. Discuss your figures with the Jansen Techniek sales team for a concrete estimate.
